ILGO: Irish Lesbian and Gay Organization
Curated and donated by the ILGO

This exhibit was donated to the Lesbian Herstory Archives by the ILGO. It tells the story of ILGO’s earliest days and its ongoing struggle starting in 1991 for full inclusion as out proud lesbians and gays in New York City’s largest St Patrick’s Day Parade down Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue. A presentation of articles and photos from NYC’s tabloid press reveals the courage of ILGO members and their supporters as well as the vehemence of the negative response from traditional parade organizers. And this struggle for full inclusion continues for all of us.
